Another NOTD, seriously? yeahhh I don't know why, but I am obsessed with painting my nails. It's therapeutic for me - painting my nails while watching to TV is my way of unwinding on Friday night ^_^ This is another slight repeat color for me; I usually wear it in a rainbow and this was my first time wearing it as a solo color.  It's a lovely color either way though isn't it ^_^?

Also - I haven't posted about CANDY in awhile. I've an uncontrollable sweet tooth so I'm forever snacking on candy of some kind and here are a few gems I've tried in the past few weeks months (plus a few favorites):

Steph of Julu Jewelry sent me this along with a pair of Angel Wing Pearl Earrings I ordered awhile back.  I love the earrings btw, I got them in lavender and I wear them pretty often since they are pearls and studded.  The pearl is quite large so they're very noticeable.  It's also in rhodium so no tarnishing~  Anyway, these alien-eggs are SO GOOD.  It's powdered matcha on the outside with a red been filling if I recall correctly. The triangle packaging is so cool too.  I wish I could find these in Asian markets but no luck :( SO GOOD, highly recommended indeed!

Bali's Best - SO AMAZINGGGGGGGG.  They sell these in random Asian markets now (Hmart and Hanaro) - YES.  My favorite hands down is the Green Tea Latte one.  It actually tastes like green tea!   The Latte candy (yellow bag) is pretty good too, it tastes like a real latte drink.  It's quite strong actually :)

The green tea is a little disk with no filling and the Latte Candy is fatter because it has a creamy milk center :)~  My 2nd favorite is Bali's Coffee candy. It's SO coffee-ish! It has no filling but it tastes like pure unadulterated black coffee.   I have also tried the Expresso candy, which has a filling as well.  That one is my dad's favorite because it's sweeter ^_^  Sadly, you can only buy in bulk from the official website, but there are a ton of sellers who sell individual bags online.  I am DYING to try the Citrus and Iced Tea Candy; if the Green Tea Latte one is any indication, it'll pure tea goodness :D  Sadly, I have never seen the Citrus or Iced Tea ones in stores :( I may very well order them online one day.  Everyone must try this brand!

What's the name of the restaurant?  I'll be going back to Korea in October I think and I'd love to stop by there.

Finally, it's Saturday!  Anyway, I whipped out Zoya Faye again because I like it so much.  It's definitely on the classier side compared to the rest of the Sunshine Collection and when the weather warms out I may actually wear this to work :D  I think the plum color is formal enough to pull off in summer when work clothes can be a tad more casual - what do you think?

NOTD Rainbow: Zoya Sunshine Collection + Swap

Are these not the most perfect weekend nails everrrrrrrrrr~?!  I've worn these crazy nails two weekends in a row even if it's a pain to apply 5 different colors.  During my ridiculous Zoya binge, I ordered the entire Sunshine collection (except for Reva) since that looked a lot like slightly darker version of Kimmy to me. People may have seen me raving about this on Twitter already ^^

Temptalia and Scrangie were both lukewarm about this collection's formula, but with VampyVarnish's not-quite-raves but good review, I bought them all anyway ^_^  And omg I love them :D!  They're not perfect though:

Pros:
1.) Absolute glitter bombs - all the polishes have a ton of gold micro-flecks.
2.) Easy to build from sheer to opaque.  Some have complained that these are sheer polishes but seriously, they really aren't.  Yes, at one coat they look suspiciously sheer but all the polishes are opaque by 2 coats.  Tanzy and Rica may take 3 coats though.  Kimmy is actually opaque enough to get away with one coat if you want :D
3.) Pretty long lasting. The first time I wore these I didn't use a base or top coat and they lasted 3 days anyway.  I haven't worn them for a longer length of time yet though - crazy as I may be, even I don't have the guts to wear 5 sparkly polishes to work all at once xD
4.) VampyVarnish says these colors aren't that unique but me being a relative polish newbie, I have no dupes of any of them.  Especially Faye and Rica which are pretty universally considered unique to this collection.

Cons:
1.) Formula is admittedly not as good as the Summertime collection (cream finishes) but I think that's a consequence of just being total glitter bombs.  The formula dries a hair slower than the typical Zoya polish, but it really isn't a big deal. It's like a difference of 5 minutes but for watching-TV-whilst-applying polishers like me, it's no big deal.
2.) Downside of these polishes being choked with gold glitter is that when you remove them, you get little gold glitter flecks everywhere :P So you have to wash you hands afterwards 2-3 times to get rid of all that residue.  That said, for a glitter polish these are really easy to remove :)  Not like the Sally Hansen Rockstar 05 which is by far the most painfully annoying polish to remove -_-

Anyway, enough with the chatter! I took a lot of pics because I just love this happy look ^_^ Just looking at my nails make me feel chipper!

Faye: a plum or fig.
Reva: sugared pink grapefruits.
Tanzy: sunkissed tangerines!
Apple: ....granny smith apples. Duh :}
Kimmy: sun-ripened strawberries.

Oh mannnnn, Faye is definitely a winner here.  It's such a lovely, unique plum with gold flecks.  From reviews I've read, Faye has been been a universal favorite and I can see why.  Reva (the pink grapefruit) is a close second with Kimmy (the strawberry red).  That's followed by Tanzy - the perfect orange color imho then Apple.  Honestly, I really like all of them though.  I think they all go so perfectly together :D

And don't they just look so glittery in the sun ^_^?  I accidentally shrunk this image down too much so it's hard to see details but yeah~

And what it looks like from far away :)  My hands look a little too yellow in the pics but for those with yellow-undertones and have trouble finding an orange that doesn't make your hands look sallow - Tanzy is a fantastic orange color.  It goes quite well with my yellow undertones and reminds me of mandarin oranges ^_^

And last but not least~ Awhile back Elisa (of Memorable Days) and I did a face mask swap and she sent me a couple MBD and Dutch masks :}

It was pretty cool to get a package all the way from the Netherlands ^_^ And the Hello Kitty marshmallow candies were really good; they were filled with strawberry jam.

So far I've tried the Natto mask (orange-y :D) and am probably going to try one of the Dutch masks next.  Elisa was being mad cute and stuck little translated directions everywhere ^^

Looking back I noticed I haven't been doing many "personal"-style posts and I think I'm going to focus on that for awhile now.  I still need to finish my Korea Trip series (backlogged for almost a year now -__-) and I feel like I'm becoming a little impersonal :P Anyway~ it's FRIDAY. NOTD: The Last of Winter~ Zoya Edtya

Super short post today (to make up for the atrociously long one last time ^_~). I just wanted throw up this last backlogged "winter" NOTD I had sitting on my harddrive before I start fawning over spring/summer happy nail colors ^_^  Although I've been pretty busy :( one thing I've been good at is snapping pics of my nails, so I've collected quite a backlog of them ^^

I am proud to say this is a very accurate shot of Zoya Edtya ^_^  It's a pretty forest green with gold (and a tiny hint of blue) micro-glitters.  It has an almost mossy textured finish that I find rather intriguing.  This polish always strikes me as a Christmas-y polish; next year, hopefully, I'll have time to jazz it up with some holiday designs.   It's a very easy to apply - the classic Zoya formula in other words.  It's very opaque and you can easily get away with just two coats.  It's not quite as long lasting as Zoya Freja though, this starts chipping a tad in about a week while Freja goes chip-less for up to 2 weeks.  I noticed this because I wore these polish back to back.  Another negative is that omg, this stains your nails if you don't use a base coat.  Even with a base coat, after removing this I had a faint green tinge that lasted for a day or two! I've never had a staining problem before or since so it definitely is this particular polish.  I don't know if it's the fault of my base coat or Edtya itself but this staining problem is why I don't think I'll ever wear this color regularly.

Nonetheless, I don't regret buying it.  It's one of those polishes that don't stand out as much but I haven't gotten sick of it either. The rich forest green with gold sparkle just makes it a very warm, holiday-ish color.  I think there was a mad rush for Edtya a few months ago for one reason or another, but even though the hype has died down, I still like it.  I just wish it didn't stain my nails so much :P

NOTD: Zoya Freja + Zoya BOGO Free Promo

I couldn't get a good picture of this polish for some reason....the sun was being *too* bright. Huh, you don't hear that complaint every day.  Except from nerdy dweebs who have pretensions of vampirism and are bleached pale from a lack of sunlight and too much COMPUTER.  Oh wait, that's me :)

I've said many times that this is my favorite nail polish - and it still is!  It's a gorgeous, classic gunmetal that was a fall/winter staple for me; I'll probably put this aside for spring/summer though. The formula of this polish is amazing, even on Zoya standards.  These nails are already about a week old since I snapped these pics and absolutely no chipping :D  Application is so easy too, super smooth, never patchy, and totally opaque after 2 coats, but 3 is perfect.  This isn't just a flat gunmetal, there are subtle silver micro-glitters in that make this polish quite complex.  The color is just so versatile and goes with everything, honestly I have no complaints about it.  Some may find this color a little boring after the deluge of pastels and hot neon colors Zoya and Nubar have been flinging out, but to me gunmetal is like black and white - totally timeless and never out of style.  Very much recommended and my #1 personal favorite.

A short post and another NOTD :D!  I wore this for about 2-3 weeks, you can tell my nails have grown out around the cuticles and wearing away on the edges.  It lasted a long time :) AND it wasn't hard to remove which is a huge plus.  I feel like I sort of damaged my nails after all the Purple Gradient nails because Sally Hansen Rockstar 05 was such a pain to remove :P

Rats, my thumb was supposed to be gold -_- Anyway, I really like both Goldie and Trixie under Shattered.  Since the polishes are so strikingly metallic, it shows up really well under the top coat.  Both polishes apply very smoothly, Trixie looks like aluminum foil on your nails ehhe :)  

OPI Hello Kitty Blueberry VS Zoya Jo

As much as I was drawn to Blueberry from OPI's Hello Kitty nail collection for Sephora ($10), I didn't purchase it for myself because I was convinced it was a dupe of Zoya Jo ($7), which I already had.  However, Julie from PDXbeautiful gave it to me in a swap so I got to try both and learned my lesson about calling dupes without trying it for myself xD  So yep, on this lovely Sunday afternoon, I thought I'd experiment with these two colors.

Ehhe, I was just having a bit o fun ;) I like how Flurry Up looks but Nubar 2010....meh.  It looks so much better over dark nails.

Zoya Jo is one of my personal favorites, my 3rd favorite Zoya polish (#1=Freja, #2=Adina).  It is just a beautiful complex periwinkle blue that is surprisingly opaque.  Here's the review that convinced me to get Jo :)

Zoya Nail Polish in Jo can be best described as: Delicate and serene looking medium periwinkle blue with subtle silver and blue toned shimmer. This calming, flattering blue is like stress relief therapy on your nails!

Color Family: Blues
Finish: Metallic
Intensity: 5 ( 1=Sheer - 5=Opaque )
Tone: Cool
Original Collection: Twist 

I just adore this color - the official description describes it very well, "a periwinkle blue with subtle silver and blue toned shimmer."  What I especially like is that it is not sheer, it's quite opaque just as they promise.  It's also a very complex blue, surprisingly so, and perfect for Spring/Summer.  It applies silky smooth and has a very nice, smooth finish.  No complaints.

OPI Blueberry caught my eye after fuzkittie wore it a week or so straight xD  But from the bottle I was so sure it was a Jo-dupe so I contented myself to whinging on about how cute the bottle was xD The only official description they have of this color is an "opaque pastel periwinkle blue."  After applying it to my nail though, I'd say it's an "opaque, pastel periwinkle blue with no shimmer." It's a little harder to apply than Jo; it's a tad streakier and prone to chipping at the cuticles and tips a bit.  The formula seems a gooier overall.

You can see how jagged Blueberry applied around my cuticles :P It's harder to apply than Zoya, the formula is goopier and the brush is harder to use. Anyway, it's easy to see that the two colors are very different! Jo is defintely a complex, deeper cornflower blue while Blueberry is a flat pastel periwinkle.

Flat pastels are probably going to be trendier next season but I personally prefer Jo, if only because I like a little shimmer in my polishes.  Overall, both have their place and time.  Jo is a classic, spring/summer color that would be chic on all ages.  Blueberry is a fun, trendy color that would be great for the upcoming spring.  I think nail art would go particularly well over Blueberry as well. Zoya is cheaper at $7/bottle but we can't deny that the HK polish collection is just ridiculously cute in the packaging department.  It just depends on what style you're going for I think.

Last thing, I'm pretty disappointed how Nubar 2010 looks on anything but very dark polishes :P In the end, I think both Jo and Blueberry look best worn alone without any fancy top coats.

Hi peeps! Oh man, I slept like a baby last night....for like 12 hours straight. Fell asleep at midnight and woke up at noon today ahah my favorite way to start a weekend :}

Anyway, I wore these nails for like....two month straight or something because it just lasted that long! This Sally Hansen glitter is insane - it is impossible to remove!! But it never chips either ^^  It literally took me an hour to remove this NOTD, I had to soak a cotton pad and leave it on each nail for 5 minutes and almost scape off the glitter ><  It was like they were glued to my nails.  But the main reason I kept this polish mostly because it's really easy to do the gradient nail look.  Just add one thin coat onto your whole nail.  Wait for it to dry (dries really fast). Then add a second coat to the upper half.  The glitter builds really fast so it becomes essentially opaque after 2-3 coats.   Then I added the big glitter specks from Flurry Up because...I felt like it xD  And viola~ gradient nails that last at least a month!

Rockstar Pink is a glitter bomb with blue, purple, and silver glitter.  It's very builable, lasts a very long time, and dries 8-10 minutes/coat. I recommend this polish if only because it's so easy to create gradient nails with these without the hassle of sponging.  Sally Hansen in Rockstar was actually the first Sally Hansen polish I tried along with 270 Lacey Lilac. I bought them both at Walgreens while there was a Sally Hansen BOGO 50% off.

I was just playing around with different ways to wear Rockstar Pink ^_^  I like it best as a gradient over with no base color.  Anyway, I wasn't crazy about Lacey Lilac.  I was looking for more of a pure lavender with a blue undertone but this has a gray undertone that I think looks a little sickly.  I don't really recommend it, honestly.  Application wise it was fine though.  Pastels and lighter colors tend to be streaky I think but this applied pretty smoothly.  And here's closeup:

You can tell I'm more of a short-nail person ^^  My new interest in nail polish has helped me grow them out a bit but I tend to cut my nails when I'm stressed (no really) so they're usually pretty short.  As for the dry skin ahah I have no excuse other than laziness xD

Swap + Zoya Adina NOTD + Randomness!

Quick, random post tonight...really tired today ;_;  But I just wanted to share the swap I had with PDXBeautiful aka Julie.  I've been following her YT Channel since the beginning and she does great reviews on drugstore and Asian skincare products.  She's a licensed Esthetician in Portland, OR so has a very practical outlook to her reviews.   She also one of the nicest people I've met online ^_^  Anyway, we did a swap for Valentine's Day and I just wanted to share the package she sent me :D

Also, here's a current favorite polish of mine - Zoya Adina!  I think it's my second favorite after Zoya Freja (gunmetal) in terms of polishes I wear without glitter/fancy top coats and still looks eye catching yet professional.

I just LOVE the duochrome-ness of this polish!  It goes on a deep mauve lavender but flashes a vibrant apple green.  The polish itself is infused with delicate silver micro-glitters.  It goes on very smoothly and 2 coats (though I usually do 3) are sufficient. And just for fun~

An old school Green Apple Tootsie Pop - ahh I feel young again ^_^  also I couldn't help noticing that my nail polish was a lighter version of the tootsie pop :} And as if this post couldn't get any random....For people who don't know the cuteness that is My Milk Toof - isn't the teaser just so adorable xD!?

I haven't been this excited about a Blogger-celebrity book release since Bakerella, the cupcake pop queen :D!

Last thing - Sasa has been grating my nerves with their obnoxiously slow shipping this time.  I placed an order with expedited shipping in January and it's still not here :P   I have to admit part of it is that I can literally see my face getting worse without it's daily sheet mask treatment :(!  In the last 3 weeks sheet mask-less, my face has gotten redder, I've been breaking out more, and my skin texture has gotten rougher.  It's a little unreal how much a difference sheet masks have made for me.  I've ordered from Sasa 4-5x before and it's always taken 3-4 weeks max and it's been almost 5 weeks this time.  I guess why I'm really troubled is because Sasa didn't provide a tracking number (never worried about it before) and it's literally been in transit for 3 weeks, which is pretty long even from HK.  This won't prevent me from ordering again from Sasa again but this really just reminds me of the severe lack of reliable Asian cosmetic/skincare retailers in America -_- *sigh* Anyway, this delay is why I haven't done my Uber-Sheet Mask Ranking video yet :(  There are seven more sheet masks I want to include in my ranking, which haven't arrived in my Sasa haul so that video will just have to wait...sorry peeps :(

Ooo...my first NOTD ^^  I am without question a total nail polish noob.  Nail polish is very recent interest of mine - as in, I bought my first 'real' nail polish (aka not costume polish that chips in a day) sometime November at Zoya's BOGO Sale.  I wasn't crazy about Zoya Ibiza when I first tried it.  It's a deep blue, almost black nail polish with a very, very subtle shimmer.   A bit boring I thought, so I put it aside for awhile.

I was also one of the people that totally missed out on Sally Hansen Hidden Treasures nail polish. It was a notoriously difficult polish to get ahold of and Limited Edition to boot, so I never got it.  I remember on Ebay, these polishes were going for $25+ a bottle, it was ridiculous.  Anyway, a perfect dupe of the famous Sally Hansen Hidden Treasures has emerged in the form of Nubar 2010, Nubar's 10th Anniversary special edition nail polish!  Karla Sugar and Scrangie have done excellent comparison swatches of both, but I have posted one pic from Scrangie for your convenience:

Both reviewers claim that price, quality and application are all generally same between both :) and they both certainly look identical so that's all good.

I am so thrilled with Nubar 2010, it's a definite dupe of SH Hidden Treasures and for the 4-5 days I've been wearing the nails above, I haven't experienced any chipping.  I think the Nubar 2010 looks best over a dark polish and the deep navy hue of Ibiza adds a beautiful dimension to the iridescence of Nubar 2010 instead of just a solid black :D  It's the perfect New Year's Day look because it reminds me of fireworks in the night sky!

The famous and ever-elusive UD Naked palette is actually IN-STOCK at Sephora.   It definitely has been the most-hard-to-get palette of the season so get yours now!  Also, UD Naked Palette is now being sold for $44 on Amazon by Urban Decay.  It should qualify for free shipping even if you buy on Amazon, just read the instructions carefully.  Amazon can be your backup place to purchase if Sephora runs out of stock (which they prolly will in a few hours).  Lastly, rumor has it that the Naked palette will be re-stocked at Ulta stores/online very, very soon.
