Ebates 12% off + Being in K-Dramaland

Hi everyone! I hope that you all are having a good weekend.  The weather has been really nice this weekend in DC and I've been busily shopping for the past 1-2 weeks for spring/summer work clothes.  I'm not very adventurous when it comes to clothes, I tend to wear my "favorite" pieces over and over again xD But speaking of online shopping - I wanted to share this with you:

Ebates is having a 12% cash back promo for their 12 Year Anniversary!  Basically that's 12% off of The Body Shop, Sephora, Banana Republic (sadly, Kiehl's is not included), and quite a few other places.  That's 12% off on top of any discounts the individual store has :D   So if you haven't signed up for Ebates yet, now is good time since this 12% off thing is libel to disappear at any moment.  If you don't mind using my referral link, I would be very honored :} but if not, just take a gander through the Ebates homepage and you can sign up that way too~  I just received my Ebates cashback last month - it was deposited promptly into my PP and so now I can definitely say this site is legit.

TBS has been the place that has been tempting me the most though because their B3G2 Free thing is still going on.  Unfortunately, now it's restricted to certain items (before it was site-wide) but still it's a pretty good deal especially with the $50+ Free Shipping and 12% cash back :)

How to Get the Best Deal on THE BODY SHOP
1.) Go to the Ebates The Body Shop page.
2.) Click through Ebates.
3.) There is a Buy 2 get 1 or buy 3 get 2 free promo going on. No promo code necessary.
4.) Add as close to $50 to your cart to get Free Shipping.  No promo code necessary if your cart is $50+.
5.) Confirm purchase.

Sephora and BR don't have any particular sales going on but it's Free Shipping on both sites for purchases $50+.  This is heck of a lot better than Ann Taylor/LOFT who only offers free shipping for purchases $125+ (...how generous :P).

I've been in such a shopping mood lately so I just wanted to let you guys know about this!

On a different topic, who here has been watching 49 Days and/or Romance Town?  I'm so excited for the 49 Days finale :D :D :D
omg she woke up! Will she remember? Who is the last tear?! Maybe it'll be backstabby In-jung semi-redeeming herself!
!  I also popped in to watch Romance Town which seems quite promising indeed and I am hearing many good things about Best Love...arghh!  I'll prolly just read the recaps for Best Love.....  My drama-obsession comes in phases - I watch 3-4 dramas all at once than take a break for a couple months ^_^   The last drama I watched in full was My Girlfriend is a Gumiho (LSK and SM were so darn cute :D)

It was a very easy watch with two very charming leads.  It wasn't as interesting to me as Chuno was (heartheart) but I fell under Shin Min Ah's spell of cuteness:

And with Lee Seung Ki being cute as a button too, I couldn't resist:

It's a "Totoro" reference!!!

He's got a million dollar smile that boy ^_^!   I think LSK+SMA are among my Top 5 Favorite Couples xD  They just suit each other so well :D  And speaking of Totoro...I want:

Anyway, 49 Days is SOOOOO good right now.  My heart is so torn between Kang and Scheduler and I'm actually very curious to see how this will end.   I love how fast this drama is moving - I hate it when dramas draggggg~ out the climax :P  After a long dry spell I'm back in crazy drama land and it's NICE PLACE TO BE INDEED!

NOTD: Zoya Freja + Zoya BOGO Free Promo

I couldn't get a good picture of this polish for some reason....the sun was being *too* bright. Huh, you don't hear that complaint every day.  Except from nerdy dweebs who have pretensions of vampirism and are bleached pale from a lack of sunlight and too much COMPUTER.  Oh wait, that's me :)

Seche Vite Base Coat
Zoya Freja - 3 coats
Seche Vite Top Coat

I've said many times that this is my favorite nail polish - and it still is!  It's a gorgeous, classic gunmetal that was a fall/winter staple for me; I'll probably put this aside for spring/summer though. The formula of this polish is amazing, even on Zoya standards.  These nails are already about a week old since I snapped these pics and absolutely no chipping :D  Application is so easy too, super smooth, never patchy, and totally opaque after 2 coats, but 3 is perfect.  This isn't just a flat gunmetal, there are subtle silver micro-glitters in that make this polish quite complex.  The color is just so versatile and goes with everything, honestly I have no complaints about it.  Some may find this color a little boring after the deluge of pastels and hot neon colors Zoya and Nubar have been flinging out, but to me gunmetal is like black and white - totally timeless and never out of style.  Very much recommended and my #1 personal favorite.

So, yeah I need to stop myself from raving more about what is ultimately but a bottle of nail polish ;) Speaking of Zoya though, make sure you take advantage of their amazing promo (only for current account holders):

The Body Shop + Kiehls Sale Alerts

It's crazy late but I just had to make a quick post because of two amazing sales going on right now:

1.) The Body Shop is having their Semi Annual Sale, buy 2 Skincare products get 1 full-size product FREE and on top of that FREE shipping on ANY order (usually it's $50+).   The free shipping is just for President's Day Weekend (aka it ends 2/21).  Also don't forget, Ebates gives 5% cash back!  Sadly, it's no longer 10% cash back since that was just a promotion but still better than nothing :}  I'm going through a TBS phase right now and lemming the Wise Woman Eye Cream - anyone have thoughts on it?  It has great reviews on Makeup Alley.

You know the drill now
1.) Ebates (my referral link if you don't mind)
2.) Click through Ebates to The Body Shop to get 5% cash back
3.) Add 3 skincare products to cart (no coupon code needed for free shipping this weekend)

And you get 3 full size products w/ free shipping + 5% of your order back :D

2.) Kiehl's is a pricey brand, no question. But right now they're having the best sale I've seen from them so far.  Basically if you buy any Age Fighting product (the most popular ones below):

...and use AGEFIGHTER coupon code...

....you get FREE shipping on any order (usually $50+) AND a full size Strength Deep Wrinkle Filler (which I'd give to my mom ehehe).  Luckily Kiehl's is on Ebates too for 4% back too.  I've been dying to get the Repair Skin Overnight and I think now's the time:

You get 3 free samples with every order (you get to pick) + a bonus sample of Rosa Artica, which is a limited time promo for this new product I believe.

FYI I've been getting mixed news on the deadline of this offer.  My email says this promo code ends on 2/21 (aka the end of President's Day which makes sense) so I dunno when this will end really.... In case that promo ends early, use code JOLT if you purchase the Rosa Arctica to get Free Shipping + deluxe Midnight Recovery Concentrate & Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50+ at Kiehl's (Ends 04/01/2011).   Obviously, AGEFIGHTER is the better promo tho ;)

So yep, just wanted to share these real quick before I go to sleep ^^

Lunar New Year + Free Shipping @ The Body Shop!

From Sempio - check out the recipe too ^^

Tis Lunar New Year today :D! My mom made a little pot of rice cake soup (떡국/tteokguk) ^_^ so we'll probably eat that tonight~  We don't do any of the bowing/dressing up in hanboks (I've had enough of that through jesa anyway), but I love tteokguk (especially with dumplings/mandoo :D).

For a little Lunar New Year trivia, here are some fun (and short) posts:
- Why Koreans call Lunar New Year gujeong/구정/"old new year" via Ask a Korean
- And of course, good ol' wiki :)

Happy Lunar New Year!
I wish everyone a wonderful year with lots of good luck!
(even though it's not looking so good for us rabbits darnnit -_-)

Also here are some pics of the snow we got in VA last week ^_^ The snow was excellent, all dense and heavy, great for snowball making :D Lots of people lost electricity for awhile though because many power lines went down under the weight of the snow and falling trees :(

Also, speaking of Lunar New Year....it seems like The Body Shop celebrates it too xD!  Usually you need to spend $50+ to get free shipping but now you can get Free Shipping with any purchase amount! And it get's better, on top of free shipping and the free mini duo with $25+ purchase - Ebates gives 10% cash back (which is a pretty hefty amount)!  Ends tomorrow (2/4).

So, to maximize your savings:
1.) If you haven't already, make an E-bates account.
2.) Go to The Body Shop E-bates page & click through "Shop Now" for 10% cash back.
3.) Add whatever amount to cart, though I recommend $25 to get the little gift set ^_^
4.) Free Shipping is automatically applied (no coupon code necessary).
5.) Same with the gift set, TBS will ask you which one you want automatically.
6.) Confirm purchase & you're done :D!

If I may humbly suggest the Vitamin E Face Mist (check out Rainy Day's review) and the Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick, these are great :D and I shall review them soon :)

RnR Eyeshadow Review + Get RnR Eye Shadows for $5.85/each

I am sort of mashing a review up with a sales alert to kill two birds with one stone.  Plus I want to introduce y'all to these shadows while a lot of  eyeshadow colors are available ;)  I am not sure about this yet but I believe that all R&R cosmetics are being phased out (not just the blushes), so as time goes by, less and less will be available.  So if you want any R&R cosmetics, you are running out of time :\  This is another long post so I posted most of the content after the jump.

How to Get R&R Eye Shadows for $5.85/each
Another Good Deal Method
Top CCW: Lawsuit, Jaded, Nailed

I briefly mentioned R&R eyeshadows here, but let me give you quick overview of just the eyeshadow colors I received.  I won't be talking about the blush because I already did a review of the other R&R blush colors I have and let's face it, everyone and their grandma knows how great R&R blushes are.
Rock & Republic Eye Shadow Description
- Available in three finishes: matte, satin or shimmer
- Long wearing, formulated for easy application
- Richly pigmented
- Fine jet-milled powder
- Full range of shades
Cost: I got these shadows 50%, before they got marked down, so I paid $14/eyeshadow + .99 shipping.

    Packaging:

R&R eyeshadows are essentially the R&R blush in miniature.  They are literally exactly the same except for size with the identical magnetic enclosures and mirrors inside.  You can see the size comparisons above.  Even though the eyeshadow is smaller than the blush, it's still an awful lot of product for one eyeshadow color O_O  Trust me on that - much like the blushes, you will probably never be able to hit the pan on these.

All swatches and descriptions in italics are from Karla Sugar (click here to see all R&R shadow swatches)!  All her swatches are very accurate1

    Jaded
Karla Sugar Says: Jaded is a very iridescent blue-green that makes me think of Monet’s waterlilies (high shimmer).
Finish: Shimmer, but not high-high shimmer as you might think.  The picture below is a very accurate look at the color.  It has a silvery, cool-toned sheen.

Quality: Very finely milled, great quality, creamy, blendable, and highly pigmented.
Overall: I made the the mistake of picking up another seafoam green -__- but that said, it's a lovely color and it really does remind me of the type of green Asians tend to wear - subtle and shimmery.  I would say this color is very nicely suited for cool tones.  However, as nice as the color is, I suspect NYX Wildfire and/or NYX Seafoam Green are dupes of this color, although I haven't done side-by-side comparison yet.

    Nailed
Karla Sugar Says: Nailed is a super shimmery charcoal (high shimmer).
Finish: Very shimmery with micro silver flecks.  No fallout at all and the shimmer is a gorgeous subtle grey-silver that is silky smooth on application. This is a very basic color - a cool dark gray.

Quality: Very finely milled, great quality, creamy, blendable, and highly pigmented.
Overall: A basic color that will be hella useful for smoky eyes.  Gorgeous color, however, I feel that this is a dupe-able color or at least it's not an "unusual" color.  I am sure you can find charcoal greys elsewhere.  HOWEVER, this is such a basic, usable shade and for $5.85, I think this would be a great buy since you could always use it.

    Lawsuit
Karla Sugar Says: Lawsuit is a totally cool dark brown that reflects green/blue-green; sort of the same idea as MAC Club (medium shimmer).
Finish: Shimmery, though not as much as Nailed.  The most surprisingly duochrome eyeshadow I'e ever seen.

Quality: Unlike Jaded and Nailed, I found this too be crumbly and little chunky.  It was a little difficult to apply evenly and bet it's because it's duochrome.   Definitely the most difficult in terms of application of the three. This struck me as very odd since R&R is known for their excellent finely milled quality.  However, it's incredibly pigmented and very creamy.
Overall: This is by far one of the most popular R&R shadows for a reason, it's so duochrome.  It goes on brown but shimmers a stark green!  I could look at it for hours and I was most excited about this color~  If you apply just this on your lid it looks like you are wearing two colors, brown on the outer corners, green in the center - it's awesome!  This would be great on days you're in a rush - with one color, it'll look like you're wearing two.  That said, this shade is not without it's faults, I found applying this difficult.  Mine was "chunky" - about 1-2mm sized bits would cake off the pan so I had to tap it off after every brush sweep.

As much as I like this color, I feel that this color is deceptively difficult to wear if you want to wear it as a dramatic look. I feel that this is one of those colors that shifts between warm and cool-tones aka the brown is warm-toned and the green is cool-toned.  This means those with only "neutral" complexions can really pull this off all the time.  On me it was almost a bit muddy looking (I think the brown was too warm for my face), but then again it's eyeshadow, not foundation, so it's not that big of a deal.   Also, if you're just using a thin wash of this color, this honestly isn't a problem at all.  I'm just being critical, as usual.   Overall, I'd say this is one of the most unique colors I own and I don't regret this color at all.  I highly recommend you snag this color if you're doing a R&R haul.

    On R&R Shadows in General
    Good:
    - A steal at $5.85 each.
    - Excellent quality: good pigmentation, 2 of the 3 colors were non-streaky and blend beautifully.
    - All are very finely milled and highly pigmented.
    - Enormous color selection.
    - Purty packaging!
    - All are very creamy and blendable.

    Bad:
    - Lawsuit was kind of crumbly, which confuses me. I suspect it might be just my pan.
    - Packaging is way too bulky to be carried around.

I think the quantity you get is both a pro and a con.  You definitely get a bang for your buck but seriously, I have no idea why anyone would need so much of one shadow color :\ Maybe except for the matte blacks and whites, I feel a lot of product will eventually go to waste in the end >< That said...yes, I'll prolly buy more shadows because...$5.85/shadow is effing amazing!  Do use Karla Sugar's swatches as reference because all her swatches are spot on and she has all of them swatched.

    R&R Sales
Ok, now for the sales ^^ R&R is actually holding two sales right now O_O

You can only use 1 promo code at a time ^^  But if you want to get non-eyeshadows, use the 50% off all cosmetics obviously.  The BOGO promotion is not as good as it sounds honestly - it basically takes off only $14 flat :\

How to Get R&R Shadows for $5.85/each
For blushes, X-rated is still available and I so recommend it. Go here for more info on buying R&R blushes. As for eyeshadows~ The best way to get a good deal is actually to just use the 50% off deal.  This method will show you how to take advantage of both the $25 off Friend Invite and promo codes.

1.) Get a Friend Invite for $25 off first purchase (link or email me at insideoutelle@gmail.com.  For the link, I do not get the $25 referral bonus but if you don't mind waiting a bit ^^, feel free to email me and I'll send you a personal Friend Invite that gives both you and me $25 off our next purchase).  You must spend $75+ to get $25 off your first purchase.  Once you get the Friend Invite and make an account, the $25 off will be automatically applied without a promo code after you add $75+ to your cart.

    2.) Go to R&R eyeshadow ($14/each) page.

3.) Add 7 eyeshadow colors to your cart.

4.) R&R has gotten rid of .99 shipping :( Now it's just Free Shipping for $150+.  Anyway, the cheapest shipping for 5+ items is $16.95. Yeah...it's ridiculous :\

5.) Type in ROCKCOSMETICS into promo code box for 50% your whole purchase.  You enter promo codes right before you Confirm your purchase, so don't forget ^_^

6.) Look at that lovely discount! You end up getting 7 shadows for only $40.95/7 = ~$5.85/each!  Even with the $16.95 shipping, this is much better than any HauteLook sale you're going to come across (HL sells e/s for $11.20/each + $6.95 flat S&H).

And here's proof that the BOGO deal is not as good as it sounds :P

See it only knocks off a measly $14 :P This results in $75.95/7 = $10.85/shadow....not good at all :P.

    Another Good Deal Method
For those hankering after a blush, a good combo to get 1 blush and 5 shadows:

This lets you get a blush + 5 shadows for a mere $46.95/6 = ~$7.83/each.  Not bad considering you get a huge blush!  Anyway, the combos are pretty much limitless.  Basically, just get a Friend Invite, add as close to $75 as you can get to your cart, and use the 50% off code.  Good luck peeps :D!

The famous and ever-elusive UD Naked palette is actually IN-STOCK at Sephora.   It definitely has been the most-hard-to-get palette of the season so get yours now!  Also, UD Naked Palette is now being sold for $44 on Amazon by Urban Decay.  It should qualify for free shipping even if you buy on Amazon, just read the instructions carefully.  Amazon can be your backup place to purchase if Sephora runs out of stock (which they prolly will in a few hours).  Lastly, rumor has it that the Naked palette will be re-stocked at Ulta stores/online very, very soon. Don't forget to go through E-bates if you're buying at Sephora for 4% cash back! So, gogogo :D! Good luck!

A Sweet Post-Christmas All Bundled Up!

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!  Can you believe 2011 is just four days away!?  I spent most of Christmas all bundled up :D  This is the cozy, soft furry blanket that my dad got me~ It's so light yet warm and SO SOFT.  He bought it at Hanaro Food (yes, a grocery store) because he said he noticed I would always stop by to pet it xD  I have the best dad ^_^

Stellamor is apparently the "No. 1 blanket manufacturer in Korea. Other brands: Uno, Aroma, Safari and Stellamor." Their official website (English) shows a lot of really pretty prints (including Disney ^^), but Hanaro only had this old fashioned Oriental-rug print :P  This is an "acrylic mink blanket" and very easy to wash, much easier than a huge comforter, which is why this kind of blanket is usually used in Korea as an extra winter blanket to go between you and your comforter.   Apparently it can be used outdoors (as a picnic blanket) as well. It's a surprisingly light and thin blanket, so even a queen-size fits easily into a washing machine.  It was $39.99 for a Queen-size.

I got the blue colored blanket (it shows a red blanket on all the packages :P).  I wasn't crazy about the Oriental-carpet-ish pattern, but gosh darn - IT'S SO SOFT.    I washed it right after I opened it since it smelled like plastic from the packaging and there was absolutely no pilling and was still so soft!   Word has it that this blanket is popular since it's never supposed to pill or lose it's softness like fleece does. If you ever see this in your local market/K-town area, I so recommend getting this.  It'd be great for college students (warm, machine washable, very portable since it's thin and light) and I can literally see myself keeping this for the next several years (if not decades :D).  It's just a very high-quality blanket for a remarkably reasonable price.

Since it started snowing in VA today, I did some mini-hauling from the comfort of my home ;)   I picked up a few products from Boscia, Pretty & Cute and a few nail polishes from Ebay. Here are the sales I partook in:

1.) Boscia: A flat $10 off $30+ with free shipping with $45+.  You also get 3 free samples with any purchase (like Sephora ^_^).  I got 2 items that was exactly $45 after the discount, so that I qualified for free shipping.  Overall I was able to pick up both products for $22.50/each~ Not bad since this winter has been really dry and my sheet masks are barely keeping the flakiness at bay.  I need something intensely more hydrating so we'll see if the Intensifying Moisture Pack + does the trick :)  I got the Smooth Facial Polish as well because I can never resist exfoliating products, but this one is supposed to be very gentle - aka perfect for winter.  Ends 12/31/2010.

2.) Pretty & Cute:  P&C has been bringing in a lot of new things from various brands lately, but I'm only interested in the new Lioele products.  It was a pretty small haul of mostly lip products and the new Lioele Princess nail polishes, which reminded me of beautiful Easter eggs ^_^  Perfect for spring I think!  I'll prolly review them quite soon since nail polishes and lip products are things that don't need to be used long to know if they're "good quality" or not. Ends 12/31/2010.

I also picked up some petit fours from Wegmans!  They came in a box of 8 with 2 of each flavor ^_^ I've always thought petit fours are the cutest thing so I couldn't resist these!  They're basically bite-sized cakes. Don't they look so cute lined up in a row like that :D?  I think the yummiest looking one is the 2nd from the left~

Green: My favorite! Green-tinted white chocolate on the outside and white cake with apricot and a buttercream filling. It's quite sweet but it tastes exactly as a petit four should I think!

Chocolate: It's coated in dark chocolate with chocolate cake and a "white icing" filling. It's good, not too sweet, but rather 'typical' tasting.

Lemon: Vanilla and lemon flavored coating with some kind of fruit filling, raspberry I think. I didn't like this one very much. I think the artificial color and flavor of the pink filling kind of threw me off...it's tart but not...satisfying. It's a weird clash of tastes, lemon and something tart. My least favorite.

Another Chocolate: Dark chocolate coat with yellow cake and a raspberry filling and rum I think. There was definitely some kind of alcohol in it cause it made my throat warm. I wasn't crazy about this one either because I don't like rum in my sweets.  While rum does add a certain complexity to the flavor of chocolate, it just wasn't subtle or pleasing here.

Sweet Pumpkin Pocky, a cute little spin off the classic Pocky I'd say~ I think it's was a seasonal flavor for Fall (Halloween).

    Adorable packaging huh ^_^?

Flavor-wise I don't have much to say...it's not pumpkin per se, maybe a sweet pumpkin pie.  The wheat cracker stick is the same as all the other Pocky and the coating is a vanilla-pumpkin pie-esque flavor. The coating is very thin so the taste is quite subtle.  It's yummy, but nothing to write home about.  So if you don't get to try this, rest assured you are not missing out on much.  I just get a craving for Pocky every once in awhile so this fulfilled it :)

    And that's all for now!

UPDATE: And oh yes, today is Boxing Day!  This day is traditionally when people distribute gifts to the needy and public service people; and while everyone should knock themselves out hauling, don't forget to set aside a little something for your mailman/post office or drop off something at the Salvation Army~   I for one, know that my mail peeps deserve a little something....lord knows they lug up enough packages to my doorstep from Hong Kong/Japan/Korea ^_^
