Poul to direct J.Lo movie for CBS Films

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- U.S. television director-producer Alan Poul is in final negotiations to direct "Plan B," a romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez, CBS Films said Monday.

Poul's small-screen credits include "Swingtown," "Big Love" and "Six Feet Under."

His expected participation in "Plan B" was announced Monday by Amy Baer, president and chief executive officer of CBS Films, a division of the CBS Corp. (NYSE:CPV)

Set to begin filming in May, the movie is scheduled to open in theaters in January 2010. It will be CBS Films' first release and will mark Poul's feature directing debut.

Written by Kate Angelo, "Plan B" is about a single woman (Lopez) who turns to artificial insemination to answer her ticking clock, only to see her back-up plan turned upside down when the man of her dreams shows up at the same time as her positive pregnancy test results. Casting for the male lead is currently under way, CBS Films said.

"Alan's impressive body of work reflects his ability to depict relatable characters in unexpected circumstances," Baer said in a statement. "Kate's script combines laugh-out-loud physical humor with genuine emotion. We think Alan's fresh vision is the perfect match to Kate's fresh voice."
