Rearing to go! Big butts are summer 2010's hottest trend

Make way! Big bums are shaping up to be the summer of 2010's hottest trend.

Serena Williams reveals that it took her years to accept her curvy backside, joining other full-figured celebrities embracing their broader bottoms this beach season.

Kim Kardashian says she finally appreciates her round rear. And a new book celebrates bulging booties.

Not since Sir Mix-a-Lot's 1992 hit "Baby Got Back" has so much praise been paid to the posterior.

Williams admits that it wasn't until she turned 23 that she realized she'd never have the same shape as her sister Venus.

"I'm super-curvy," the 28-year-old tennis titan says in the August issue of Harper's Bazaar. "I have big boobs and this massive butt.

"Venus is tall and she's like a model and she fits everything," Williams adds. "I was growing up, wanting to be her, wanting to look like her, and I was always fitting in her clothes, but then one day I couldn't. But it's fine. Now I'm obviously good."

These days, she's proud of the bod that's won her 27 Grand Slam titles. "Since I don't look like every other girl, it takes a while to be okay with that," Williams says. "But different is good."

Even tiny-tushed women are coming out in support of heftier hinds.

In the same issue of Harper's Bazaar, Cameron Diaz admits to envy when asked if her butt was a career-booster.

"That's funny, because most booties that propel girls are usually the bigger booties," says the 37-year-old actress. "I have a little tiny one, but it is, nonetheless, juicy."

Bronx-born beauty Jennifer Lopez, 40, doesn't need special shorts to show off her much-hyped butt. She was spotted on a Malibu beach last week looking hot in a plain old pair of denim shorts.

Just for fun some nice JLo pix to match the story.

Below is the original story including a released statement by her "representatives" explaining her cancellation for the performance in Cyprus.

Jennifer Lopez Backs Out of Cyprus Performance

As we reported last week Jennifer Lopez was set to perform in a controversial area in Cyprus (Jennifer Lopez Decides to Celebrate Birthday in Cyprus ) on her birthday (July 24th) for the opening of the Cratos hotel in Northern Cyprus. After many negative reports over the controversial area, and numerous amounts of backlash including a petition on facebook, and videos posted on Youtube, it seems that Jennifer Lopez is now backing out of her performance deal which obligated her to perform by contract. She was recently made aware of the issue at hand by her professional team and released the following statement via her official fan page;

Jennifer Lopez official statement

"Jennifer Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country, institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights abuse. After a full review of the relevant circumstances in Cyprus, it was the decision of her advisors to withdraw from the appearance. This was a team decision that reflects our sensitivity to the political realities of the region."

Jennifer Lopez Faces $40m Lawsuit

A hotel in Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus has threatened Jennifer Lopez with a $40 million lawsuit after she canceled a concert there for "political" reasons, press reports said on Sunday.

The chief executive of the Turkish company which runs the hotel and casino complex said Lopez still had time to change her mind about the July 24 gig.

"The contract has not been terminated. If she does not show up for the concert, we will begin a procedure in the courts to claim 35-40 million dollars in damages," warned Murat Bozoglu, speaking from the company's headquarters in Istanbul.

"The cancellation....is not covered by any clause in the contract she signed with us," said Bozoglu.

Lopez drew the wrath of Greek-Cypriots in the southern half of the divided island after the new Cratos Premium hotel and casino complex announced the singer would perform there on her 41st birthday.

But the singer scrapped the plans after criticism that the appearance would make a political statement, entertainment website TMZ.com reported on Thursday.

"Jennifer Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country, institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights abuse," a representative for the American singer and actress told TMZ.

"After a full review of the relevant circumstances in Cyprus, it was the decision of management to withdraw from the appearance. This was a team decision that reflects our sensitivity to the political realities of the region."

The US-based American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association claimed the concert would "lend credence to an illegal entity recognized only by Turkey".

Cyprus has been divided since Turkey occupied the north in 1974 in response to an Athens-engineered coup in Nicosia aimed at uniting the Mediterranean island with Greece.

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is only recognized by Turkey, which maintains troops on the Turkish Cypriot side, while the Greek Cypriot south of the island enjoys international recognition.
